A PERSONAL PLEA….
I have been told that these books are particularly meaningful to reflective folks who live with chronic illness of one kind or another, or who have a family member in that situation. I’ll add that I have also been told recently that these books are meaningful to anyone suffering a life setback, or any temporary disruption.
Although my particular diagnosis was one of MS, the books are not about multiple sclerosis. Rather they document the journey of one woman who, anticipating one kind of future, in my case a robust and physically active retirement, ended up instead having to cope with illness and loss. It’s a heroic journey, one shared by many, I believe.
My sense is that any association or group seeking to provide the company of honest expression to their patients, clients, and helper staff, may be interested in acquiring copies. The poems are wonderful prompts for support group discussions of all kinds. You who are afflicted, are not alone. Nor are you who are in transition and trying to sort out life’s ups and downs. We are never without the power to choose how to play whatever hand we are dealt in life. Despair and powerlessness are temporary conditions unless we choose to make them permanent.
If you have such a connection to provide, please do not hesitate to call me at 413-532-2579 or email martha@taketimeforyou.net. Complimentary copies are available for review.
I have always believed, and I still believe,
that whatever good or bad fortune may come our way,
we can always give it meaning and transform it into something of value.
